Wellington has signed up to the Market & Coastal Towns Initiative (MCTI) to produce a long-term 20 year plan for the town – to identify those areas we can improve, those we can grow, the threats we could face and ways of dealing with them.
To organise and oversee this process, the Wellington Economic Partnership has formed a Steering Group made up of local people who will help drive the Initiative. They have also appointed a local Community Agent - Heidi Gains. She is the MCTi Co-Ordinator for Wellington, and is the first point of contact for anyone who wishes to find out about the Wellington MCTi. Current Projects
These are current projects by other in the town that may be of interest. Contact matt@somersetrcc.org.uk to contact the relevant parties. The MCTi group is developing its plan at the moment and many projects will follow that.
1. Wellington Cinema and Arts Centre. Refurbishment and improvements to accessibility for this well used venue.
2. Food Town Event. Likely to be one of the major ongoing events, will include some of the successful features of the Launch event but will last over 2 days. Park and ride will be used to transport visitors
