It's a Fact: M3 stands for Making the most of Martock - this was the name of the Parish Plan.

Current Projects

1. Market House Community Office. To redevelop the ground floor of the market house into an Information Centre. Phase 1 conversion to commence March 2008. Transfer of toilets from SSDC agreed. Phase 2 now fully funded, following confirmation of grant from HLF.

2. Town centre improvements. Meeting of Precinct Improvement Group held January 7th and February 18th.  Moorlands re-surfacing complete.  Costing for Phase 2 enhancements and Phase 3 project brief prepared by SSDC.

3. Rights of way infrastructure. Draft walks leaflets under review.  Re-print being considered

4. Design Statement. Preliminary discussions with SSDC Planning Policy & Conservation taken place only

5. Parrett Works heritage area. Waterlinks bid failed. Application made by SSDC to SWRDA for funding to produce a Conservation and Management Plan

6. Martock Business Association. Several meetings held in 2007. Contacts list being gradually developed to disseminate information. New Chairperson to be appointed. Revised Business & Leisure Directory in-print

7. Youth Centre improvements and re-establish youth clubs. Refurbishment of Youth Centre complete.  Youth centre open 5 nights a week from March 2008.

8. New Multi-Use Community Facility incorporating Youth Centre (Parish Hall and gospel hall extension). Build new purpose built centre. Project initiated between Martock Parish Council, Martock Christian Fellowship and the Youth Centre to build new shared Multi-Use Community Facility (MUCF)

9. Village Gateways. To mark the entrance into Martock with gates and a “Welcome” sign. Investment fund established under Parish Precept

10. Martock to Cartgate cycle way along the old railway line. Cycleway would link Martock with Cartgate carpark on A303 tourist route and join National Cycleroute from Cartgate to Yeovil.
