Community Plan summary: CAnPLAN Summary
Castle Cary Town Council have taken lead responsibility for developing the projects that came out of the local community plan - Castle Cary and Ansford Plan - known as CAnPLAN. CAnPLAN is a Parish Plan for both parishes, and was produced with support from Tim Cook, Community Development Officer at South Somerset District Council.
Current Projects
1. Market House. Turn the Market House into a comfortable, multi-use centre for all of the community. A feasibility study, jointly funded by the Town and District Councils, has been completed, costed, and a business plan is being written. Major funding applications are in hand. A further feasibility study is needed to optimise the suitability of the building for all proposed uses, including the Museum and the Dance School. Further successful funding bids and intensive local fundraising are needed if the project is to be realised.
2. Walks Pack. Plans are at an early stage to develop a series of circular walks from the town, to boost visitor numbers and for residents enjoyment.
