Sustainable Tourism at our recent Network Event

Representatives from as far as Minehead and Watchet travelled to Wincanton on February 28th to take part in the latest SMTF Network Event, which focussed on how to organise successful events and also how best to promote our towns.

Network Events are for our members to gain an insight into what other towns have delivered – to learn why certain projects are a success and also share potential pitfalls, so that they can draw on those experiences when planning and implementing their projects.

After a tour of the town, delegates heard presentations from Colin Winder (Wincanton Market & Coastal Towns Initiative) on Wincanton’s regeneration, Rick Coldicott (Langport Area Development Trust) on the International Festival of Walking and Liz Roddie on Somerton’s Tourism and Heritage Partnership.
