Waterlinks - Update
Waterlinks is a Somerset project that was hoping to win £50m of lottery funding in a televised vote in December 2007 - however the Somerset bid has been rejected and will not now be in the final four projects from around the UK.
Chair of Waterlinks, Anne Fraser, has said "Of course we are disappointed that we didn't make it through to the final TV vote, but with all the work that has gone into the bid and the considerably higher profile that Waterlinks now has, I am confident that we will be able to find sufficient funding to ensure that many of the projects do come to fruition".

Low-lying Somerset is challenged by climate change and urgent regeneration needs. Through Waterlinks the county is rediscovering the potential of its striking water-based landscapes.
Waterlinks is an inter-connected web of more than 20 exciting projects, harnessing water for the benefit of local communities, visitors, business, wildlife and the wider environment. There are 4 hubs where the projects are 'clustered' - one being the 'Southern Moors' which includes projects in or near Langport and Martock.
How will Waterlinks make a difference? The scheme will promote more sustainable lifestyles and working practices. It will engage and educate while involving local people and visitors in a wide range of absorbing and exciting new activities.
Through Waterlinks, Somerset is rediscovering the potential of water, its most precious natural asset. With sustainability at its core Waterlinks will be a force for national lifestyle change.
