Network Event Report: Shepton Mallet, 24th March, Economic Regeneration Projects
Representatives of community groups from ten towns met in Shepton Mallet on Wednesday 24th March to learn about progress on a number of projects in the town.

Alan Stone, Shepton 21 member, local historian and a regular tour guide, led us on a tour of the town, pointing out the BT exchange where the CATEC project was planned to go, the many stone walls which are a feature of the town and the buildings that have benefitted from Shepton's Shopfront Facelift project.

We ended the tour with a brief look at the Academy building, where the Musical Theatre School are based. Gordon McDougal, the Assistant Principal, explained the courses on offer and the funding difficulties the School faces.
At the Kings Arms (aka The Dusthole), we heard presentations from Guy Braga (Shepton 21 member, ex-Mendip District Council Regeneration Officer, now working for the Community Council for Somerset) and Paul Tomlinson, Mendip DC's Conservation Project Officer - download these below;

Many thanks to all Shepton 21 members and Tony at the Dusthole for helping to deliver a good event.

Just one of the many stunning buildings Shepton has.
